Livia Rolandini — Woven Wire Mesh Sculpture

“For the past few years I have been interested in making sculpture that suggests transparency, is not solid, creating a reversal of its actual nature. Using woven wire mesh, like drawings in wire, I have tried to create a more transitory feeling, giving an illusion of movement that solid cannot. As you move around it, seeing through it, it takes on different forms — from one view it is solid and from another it is invisible, depending on the play of light upon it.”
